Opera 8.53 supports (soft) hyphenation

While testing a redesign of the home page for this site, I noticed that Opera 8.53 supports use of the symbol (aka or ) to indicate hyphenation points in a word. The word satisfaction in the left hand column of the home page will hyphenate, at least in Opera 8.53. Unclear what the impact on search engine indexing will be, my assumption right now is that search engines do not elide the soft-hyphen character when indexing the word, seeing the syllables as separate words instead.
