Combating Link Spam: Use Google Adwords Against the Spammers

About a month ago I completed upgrading a number of my sites to MovableType 3.2, from various previous versions. With my non-3.2 sites I'd turned off trackbacks and most comments because I never installed any of the various spam filters, figuring I'd upgrade to 3.2 which has them built in. On upgrading, I turned on trackbacks and restored comments, and was pretty immediately flooded by comment spam and trackback spam.

One of the filters MovableType includes is a keyword filter. My first cut at adding keywords sifted through a week's worth of spam and used the obvious trigger words as keywords in the filter, assigning a weight of 5 to each (sorry, but I can't see a legitimate reason anyone would link to one of my sites with any of phentermine,mesothelioma,viagra, etc.).

About a week after I did that, the latest updated list of costliest (and therefore, most valuable) search terms came out. I thought: Huh. If these are the highest paying keywords, they're likely to be the ones used by spammers. So, I grabbed the list of words, mangled it with awk and sed, and produced this list for the Keywords to Junk filter of the Spamlookup module:

I'm wondering if there'd be any value in maintaining of feed of these words, for use by whatever applications one might think of (of course, a feed for spamblocking purposes could be just as easily used for spamming purposes).
